On September 23rd 2012, Jordi Maria de Gibert Atienza, an innovative explorer of the fossil record, passed away suddenly in Barcelona. He left behind interesting scientifi c contributions in the areas of invertebrate ecology, palaeoecology, evolutionary ecology, taphonomy and ichnology. Jordi Maria was only 44 and had a whole life in science ahead of him. The 2014 volume of the Spanish Journal of Palaeontology is dedicated to his memory.

After the fall of the Communist regime, the Romanian population has decreased approximately 15%, due to the high level of labour migration. The migration of Romanians was even more intensified later on, after Romania has joined the European Union. This decrease of population was due to an increased demand of the West-European population for domestic, construction and agricultural workers, corroborated with the entitlement of the new European citizens to free movement of workers within the territory of the European Union. The paper deals with the “No Child Left Behind” legislation signed into law by President Bush in January 2002. Its paradoxical status lies in the national standards it creates in a field which is traditionally a part of States' powers. The paper highlights the peculiarities of the law and then moves on to a broader assessment of the Republican “neofederal” commitment. The conclusion emphasizes the Republican will to turn States into key policy-makers by placing them in a position to face up to their fiscal decisions.

Early Childhood Education and Care provision has been expanded in the People’s Republic of China over the last decades. For this expansion to harmonize with young children’s rights, special measures should ensure that the system of provision guarantees the participation and inclusion of the most vulnerable citizens. With this as a focus, this article reviews and discusses the state of Early Childhood Education and Care provision for young children of Tibetan ethnicity in People’s Republic of China. The available literature and ongoing measures and plans are explored around this topic in order to identify the main issues.
Gossypiboma in the oral region: case report and literature review

Gossypiboma is an inflammatory reaction to a foreign body, specifically composed of a cotton matrix left behind after surgery. The present study aims to present a case report of gossypiboma 23 years after a dental surgery and to make a literature review of the English language cases published on the issue. A 42-year-old woman was attended to evaluate complaints of pain on the right side of the maxilla. The patient reported that dental extractions in this region had been performed over a period of nearly 23 years.
